JON MORTIMER - Profile
Jon Mortimer's rally career has involved the full spectrum in the sport. He's not only sat beside different drivers, he's also officiated and assisted on events at the top level.

Mortimer's interest in rallying began as a spectator at Rally Australian in Perth during the early 1990s while watching Possum Bourne. He was literally swept away after he was sprayed with gravel by the New Zealand star. From that point Mortimer started to get seriously involved in the sport.

From 1995 to 1997 Mortimer was involved with rallying in an organisational capacity. He worked alongside senior Rally Australia official Adrian Stafford, and was the Service Park Co-coordinator for Rally Australia. This involved managing and liaising with manufacturer teams. He also worked as Clerk of Course for WA State Rounds and as a member of Rally Australia's Sporting Council.

In 1998 he plucked the courage to sit inside a rally car as co-driver for Bradley Markovic in the Forest Rally as well as all WA State Championship and Clubman rallies in a Nissan Pulsar GTi.

The program of WA based and Australian Rally Championship events with Markovic continued through to the end of 2004. First of all in a Dean Herridge Hyundai Coupe, then in an ex-Les Walkden prepared Subaru WRX. This period also included entry in Rally Australia as a competitor.

From 2005 Mortimer has been the trusted co-driver for Darren Windus on a fulltime basis in the NEC Australian Rally Championship. Mortimer's experience on the officiating side of rallying has placed him in an enviable position to understand the sport from all sides. Now aboard the Pirtek Rally Team, Mortimer has brought his valuable skills and input to a fully professional rally team.
